We have come to the last post of 2024! And just like that another year has passed! I can't believe that 2024 is gone. It felt like a blink of an eye. As we prepare to usher into 2025, I wanted to do a recap of my most popular posts of the year. I went through my stats to see which posts had the most clicks and brought the most eyes to my blog. Here's what people came here to see most this year! I always think it's fun and interesting to see what makes this list. You can save my travel posts on pinterest for future reference.
I was planning to end my blog at my 10th anniversary at the beginning of 2023 but I'm toying with this being my last post. But I have a lot of posts in drafts that I have finished that I should push out in January. It just seems the blogging world has changed and there's just not much of a demand for it. Last year Google rolled out something called "the helpful-content update" (HCU). Google felt that too many websites were over-optimized for search so now they reconfigured it so that the top of search results are AI answers and old reddit threads. Thus all the bloggers I know have been complaining that their search traffic is down from 50% to zero. Hence many bloggers that I followed have just stopped blogging since their blog revenue is down a fourth what it used to be. Now everyone is switching to paid Substack subscriptions as that's where the money is at, not blogging.
For the last couple of years, I’ve begun thinking that the age of blogging was nearing a close as TikTok has taken over. I hope our government doesn't shut it down! I have to admit that TikTok is my main place to search for answers followed by youtube. I use chatgbt to write professional work emails that are longer and sound nicer than I would write. I finally got on reddit this year which I have been resisting doing forever. Hence I have been using other social media platforms for my sources of information.
Blogs were like the second iteration of the Internet after web forums as now everyone is in a facebook groups to chat (I'm in quite a few). I don’t think blogs will be the source of information for people they once were. After having this blog for almost 12 years and over 925 posts I will be shifting to other projects. Can't decide if I should update even less than I have this year or just completely pivot away from this blog? If I produce even less content will you still remember to visit? Leave a comment and let me know. My travel posts on here are my favorite to go back to and read. Just wanted to share my random musings as I have been thinking about this for some while. Also I'm no longer blonde but have no idea how to change my profile picture. I used to hire people to do design tweaks on my blog but now there's no one advertising to work on this platform literally.
Now to my top posts of the year, I included 2 posts on this list from December 2023 as they weren't included in last year's round up of top posts.

How I Lost 25lbs I am re-sharing this post because I worked with a Registered Dietitian this year as my insurance paid for it. We met 4 times, she tracked what I ate on MyFitnessPal and she gave me lots of good tips and adjustments. She had me eat 1800 calories a day and aim for 90 grams of protein. I only drank wine on Fridays and Saturdays. I ate low calorie ice cream most nights. I worked out consistently by riding my peloton ( I even took a live class in NYC!), lifting heavy weights 5x a week, yoga, walking, kickboxing, pilates reformer and zumba classes on Sat & Sun. I joined a gym in July to get out of the house and be social since I work from home. From July 1 - Dec 29 I took 100 fitness classes! The weekends used to be my rest days but I just happen to really like the two instructors who teach zumba on the weekend, so it forces me to get up early and then I hit the sauna afterwards.
When the Sunday zumba teacher is out I don't like her sub then those days I take kickboxing which is a nonstop class done to soca music. It's so challenging I have to take Energy Bits beforehand. I've listened to every podcast the founder has been on to understand why her product is the best and worth the cost.
I wanted to lose weight so I would have more confidence and feel better in my body. One tip I can give you if you're on the same journey, is you can’t have a different food plan for when you’re dieting and for when you’re not dieting, permanent weight loss requires permanent change. You can’t keep being this old version of yourself. You have to upgrade yourself and think about what are the habits of someone who is healthier. Now I just started working with an online Eating Coach I found on social media. It feels so nice to be able to fit every pair of pants in my closet and know that everything I own looks flattering on me.
