My Favorite At Home Workouts

Now that gyms are closed, I've gotten back into working out at home.  Since I'm teleworking I have more time to workout. I find that working out puts me in a better mood as exercise helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Movement is key to keeping you energized. I've been planning my workouts for the week and writing them in my planner. My workout routine has been to get up early and get a strength training workout in before I start work. I find that working out in the morning is the best time to exercise. I have no distractions and just get it out of the way. Lack of time was why you didn't exercise right? Well now you're home. Then do a live streaming zumba workout at lunchtime. I'm not getting the number of steps in that I used to in a day so I think adding a fun dance workout helps with that. You have an incredible opportunity to better yourself because now you have the time. You can come out of this the best you've ever been! This is your time to start a routine of healthy habits.

Since my Orangetheory studio is closed I pulled out my Cathe DVDs. I've been working out with her for 16 years. She offers all her workouts on her streaming network for $10 a month for both live workouts and recorded workouts. Her DVDs offer customization so you can skip certain segments and her streaming service also offers this workout blender. Every year she releases new DVDs and has done every type of exercise and workout trend. I like her strength training workouts because they are tough; my heart rate is up as if I was doing cardio; I'm sweating and I'm always sore the next day. These are my favorite 5 workouts on weekly rotation. They are low-impact and don't require a lot of space, but you do need a lot of weights.

If you need new workout clothes, this is my favorite tank that I have in a dozen colors. The fabric is light and doesn't show sweat. My favorite leggings are Lululemon's Wunder Under because they are so soft and comfortable. A few colors are on sale. I just got some new sneakers in the pink/tan shade.

Lack of time was why you didn't exercise right? Well now you're home. You have no excuses now, you have more time now,  more time to think about how you can take care of yourself. If you're in lounge wear everyday you might want to try on your jeans once a week just to check if things are where they are supposed to be. Summer will be here soon and you don't want to go from one crisis to my pants don't fit crisis. I'm still meal prepping even though I'm home all day. Having a meal plan for the whole week really helps me grocery shop strategically and not order take out. Overeating doesn't fix anything and when this time is over you'll say I wish I had all that time back. Now is the perfect time to commit to a month of Whole30 or 30 day no alcohol challenge since you have no social life.

Making healthy meals helps me feel my best. I'm saving money and eating nutritious food. I'm also saving time by not having to make lunch everyday because it's already ready waiting for me in the fridge. These are my favorite glass meal prep containers. I switched to glass containers 6 years ago because it's not good to reheat your food in plastic containers. And it doesn't stain like plastic containers do from tomato sauces and turmeric.

You have time to eat a healthy breakfast everyday. For me that is either a crust-less quiche that I make on Sundays for the week. Here are my old recipes: (Crustless QuicheCaramelized Onion and Mushroom Quiche, and Crustless Quiche updated). I make a simplified version now of 8 eggs, 1 vegetable, cheese and spices and serve with avocado.  I also now have time to make baked oatmeal. I use Lucuma as my sweetener and sprinkle chia seeds on top: (CherryApple PiePear & AlmondBlueberryStrawberries and CreamPeanut Butter). I also have time to make iced tea everyday. I drink a hibiscus tea and sweeten with Stevia. I'm also taking Camu Camu  after reading this article. It's a fruit from the Amazon rainforest and has 60% more vitamin C than an orange. It also has amino acids, magnesium and potassium. You also have time to learn how to make that expensive favorite smoothie of yours that you always buy.

We have this incredible opportunity to make an incredible change. I want to look back on this time and say what did I do with all that time? Now you have the time to exercise and change your eating habits.  Make the most out of the time you have now. Make small weekly goals. Take some ashwagandha to help de-stress.  Maintain your schedule even if you're not going anywhere. Movement is medicine. I go for a walk every other day, which always improves my focus when I get back. Go to bed early and get up early and keep up with your workout routine. We can't let this thing cancel our hot girl summer.
