The LOFT has so many beautiful sweaters for the season. The trend started a few years ago but it's still going strong. If you asked me last year if I ever thought I would try it the answer would have been a resounding no. Soft Suede is the fabric of the season and makes the colors on shoes look so lush. The great thing about over-the-knee boots is your legs will be warmer in the colder months. Let’s talk about cold weather fashion since it seems like we’re going to have a brutal winter this year. While the weather is no fun, on the bright side you get to wear different looks for each season so fashion gets to be fun!

I went kayaking this weekend which was so much fun! I've only done it once before in Cabo and just never thought to try again until a friend invited me. I'm thinking about getting a season pass for it now! I also stopped in the LOFT this weekend as they were having one of their sales and loved all the bright colors. I picked up the Riviera shorts in bright red. They have a 6 inch inseam and I really liked the longer length. They also have the shorts in an elephant print, how cute is that! The Ottoman wrap skirt reminded of those Zara skirts that were so popular 3 years ago. The LOFT also has some nice jumpers and white dresses. Definitely check it out when you have a chance. I know fall doesn't officially start until Sept 23, but you can start your fall clothing shopping now! The Pantone Color Institute announced the shades that will make up this season's color wheel. Marsala is the color of the year, it's a warm wine red/brown rich color that I'm finally starting to see in stores. Other colors I will be wearing are Cashmere Rose which is a soft pink hue and Oak Buff which is a pretty golden yellow. Dried Herb and Desert Sage are such pretty muted colors, I can't wait to pick up some pieces in that shade!

For me the thing that makes the transition from summer to fall (and cold weather) easy is Pumpkin flavored everything. I have been seeing a lot of olive green in the stores which is such a hard color to find yet my favorite shade of green! According to the Pantone forecast olive green, royal blue and mustard yellow are going to be popular. Sorry heels, but I'm having a moment with pink sneakers this fall. As you can see today and in this post  you can make them work with a cute dress.

This summer I participated in the 31 day closet challenge in the hopes of wearing more of my closet. I'm embarrassed to admit that my closet is overflowing because I have a hard time throwing things away. I tend to hold on to things just in case I might want to wear them. Then I read a magazine article saying would you really wear something you bought 7 years ago, and for me that is honestly a "no". I was in a different age bracket and at the club every weekend. I've since filled up a garbage bag full of clothes, yet barely scratching the surface.

Every since reorganizing my shoe closet where I can actually see my shoes, I realized that I don't wear half of my heels and am thinking about donating all of them too. While I feel my weekend clothes are stylish, I feel very frumpy at work. I feel my work wardrobe doesn't reflect my style personality. I use pinterest to organize my recipes, but never thought to pin outfits. In the hopes of having a more pulled together look at work where my fashion sense can shine, I've started pinning outfit ideas which has given me great color combo ideas.  I feel this has helped me feel more pulled together and confident in my work clothes. It also gives me definitive items to shop for instead of just buying things that fancy my eye at the moment. I'm still using the stylebook app to have no outfit repeat months.
 

Another sale drew me into the Loft and I'm loving their new heart trend! I scooped up these three tops. The blue tank I thought would be perfect with a baby pink cardigan. The sweater is my favorite shade of pink which I've talked about before in this post.  The neck tie blouse is purple, though it's hard to tell. The thing I like about bow blouses is that I don't have to worry about a necklace.

If you're looking for a new spring fragrance check out Roses de Chloe. I'm always attracted to rose scented products, and this one is a very soft floral fragrance with a touch of bergamont, perfect for daytime wear.

Let's talk Fall Fashion: Cords & Boots. It’s a good idea to wear your corduroy pants on the same schedule as you do your velvet clothing. I always gravitate towards rich jewel tones for fall, especially olive green. I bought some gorgeous berry and olive colored corduroy pants from the LOFT, they came in practically every color and is a very flattering cut!

Sapphire is the birthstone for September and it's also been named one of this season's fall colors by Pantone (the world-renowned authority on color). Here's some ideas on how to shift your wardrobe from summer to autumn with this beautiful color from my two favorite stores.
While you're add it get a bold blue nail polish. My fave is the second one called Song. It's described as a "bold, vibrant medium primary blue with silver and blue glittery metallic sparkle." You can do a reverse french manicure with it like I did here.

I did some window shopping yesterday at the mall and all these jewel toned items are on my wishlist to buy! I pretty much live in sweaters at work year around and I can never have enough orange sweaters! Every fall I wear my favorite orange nail polish and use pumpkin scented body wash.

J.Crew's bubble necklace seems to be the most popular item they've made! I bought mine a few years ago but since then so many copycat artists are making them at a fraction of the cost!

What I'm most excited about to share is these Aqua Spritz shorts I purchased when the LOFT was having a sale. Drum roll please ..... I put on my first pair of size 2 shorts!!!!! Course I had to check the inside label to see if perhaps the outside price tag label was mistakenly placed on the wrong sized shorts, but no! Hopefully these aren't just a rogue sized pair of shorts, but either way I'll take it! It was super exciting for me considering I used to be a size 14! Never in my wildest dreams I could ever imagine being a size 2! Would it be wrong of me to keep the tag on so everyone can see the size?! lol

I keep my closet arranged by color and noticed there wasn't much in the pink section. I have a long standing no hot pink policy, I don't wear hot pink colored clothing, lipstick, or nail polish. I love light pink but not all shades are complimentary to my hair color, I usually go with beigey pinks. I stopped by Ann Taylor LOFT and they had ton of light pink stuff! As soon as they have a sale I'm definitely getting the linen shorts! I'm on the fence about the Striped Terry Drawstring Waist Dress, the color is a bit too neon for me.
