Fall 2025 Fashion Trends

Fall is when fashion gets real, layers come out, textures mix, and your personal style has a chance to shine. This season, it's all about juxtaposition: masculine tailoring with soft silhouettes, luxe textures like suede and silk paired with unexpected pops of glitter, and color combos that feel both bold and refined.

Designers are giving us strong shoulder pads, bow-tied blouses, and a fresh take on statement jewelry,  think loud luxury, layered bracelets, and resin bangles stacked over your knitwear. And when it comes to shoes, we’re seeing everything from retro track sneakers in rich suede to tall suede boots and heels worn with colored tights.

From bubble-hem skirts and sheer layers to animal print shoes and drape coat outerwear, this season is a masterclass in mixing the elegant with the unexpected. Whether you're into bohemian romanticism or tailored minimalism, fall 2025 has something that'll make you feel like the flyest version of yourself.

As the temperatures drop and we start living in our coats, it’s easy to forget the power of accessories. But trust me ignoring them is a missed opportunity! The right accessories can transform even the most basic outfit into something chic, elevated, and full of personality.

Think scarves, textured bags, bold shoes, or even a statement belt, these small additions bring depth, interest, and flair to your cold-weather looks. Especially with all the layering in fall, accessories are your secret weapon to standing out without trying too hard.

Rich textures like suede, faux fur, or wool can instantly add warmth and dimension to your outfit, making those everyday coat-and-jeans combos feel more intentional and stylish. So don’t let your fall wardrobe fall flat, let your accessories do the talking.

Let’s break down the textures, silhouettes, colors, shoes, and accessories that will upgrade your fall wardrobe, and more importantly, make you feel something.

Colors of the Season

If you’re ever in doubt about how to take your look up a notch, just add a pop of color. A bold hue whether it’s on your bag or your shoes, it instantly makes any outfit feel more stylish and brings an element of fun. It’s such a simple move, but it changes everything.
  • Deep Royal Purple – Often overlooked, this moody jewel tone is having a moment and is big this fall! Try a monochrome purple look with a lime green bag for contrast. Lululemon has a color called Dark Court Purple that is gorgeous!
  • Brown – Pantone’s color of the year is Mocha Mousse. Brown is the new black. Wear it head to toe in different textures like suede, leather, and knits. It’s warm, rich, and incredibly flattering.
  • Chartreuse Green – A zesty mix of yellow and green, like a martini olive. It's has been a really big trend especially in outerwear.  Chartreuse paired with brown = magic. I bought this shirt.

  • Poppy Red & Burgundy – Try these in accessories or statement shoes. Red + brown? Don’t be afraid to add a pop of red to your outfits.

  • Muted Orange & Chili Oil – Spicy, warm, and surprisingly wearable.

The hues of Fall '25 are rich, unexpected, and anything but boring. According to NYC Fashion Week
and Pantone, here are the colors you need to pay attention to:

I've been waiting for this Tuckernuck cashmere sweater to come back in stock!

Textures & Fabrics to Layer On

Fall fashion is all about depth, literally and visually. When it comes to fabrics, satin and silk are my go-to favorites. There’s something timeless and effortlessly elegant about them. They give you that dressed-up look without trying too hard, soft, smooth, and always flattering. The best part? They’re surprisingly wrinkle-resistant and glide over the body in the most flattering way. If you're aiming for that "quiet luxury" vibe, start here.

  • Suede – The MVP texture of the season. From jackets to shoes to bags, suede gives everything a luxe, polished edge. We're seeing it everywhere, it's the biggest trend across the board. It feels so fresh this season because of the variety of different tones.

  • Silks & Satins – Add softness and shine to your wool and suede. Great for dresses, skirts, and blouses. I have silk pants in every color! It's my signature look.

  • Velvet – Ultra-luxurious. Look for it in coats, shoes, and even nails (hello, velvet nails trend!).

  • Glitter Fabrics – Instead of sequins, designers like Miu Miu, Tory Burch, and Louis Vuitton are weaving sparkle directly into fabric. Elegant under flash.

  • Luxe Knitwear – Think cashmere, mohair, and merino wool, pieces that feel like a hug but look like a million bucks. My best sweaters are from Sezane.

  • Sheer Layers – Skirts, dresses, and overlays that let you show skin while staying seasonally appropriate.

Key Silhouettes & Shapes

Some of the best trends this fall are all about structure and exaggeration:

  • Strong Shoulders & Masculine Tailoring – Blazers, coats, and shirts with power shoulders bring drama and confidence.

  • Balloon Pants – The funkier, the better. A playful but elevated update to wide-leg trousers. I was so excited to buy a pair! This has been on my radar for a year! Zara has a bunch.

  • Bubble Hem Skirts – Back and bolder than ever. My mom got one.

  • Cinched Belts – Belts over coats, dresses, and blazers,  the ultimate waist-defining accessory. I have two posts on designer quiet luxury belts: one and two

  • Flowy Dresses & Bow-Tie Blouses – Soft, romantic, and perfect for layering.

Wild Prints

Go bold or go home:

  • Animal Prints – Cow, leopard, and snake  mostly showing up in shoes and accessories. Cowhide is big this season! This material will always bring cool-girl energy to any outfit. Whether it’s a belt, boots, or a statement bag, cowhide pieces add that effortless edge that turns a simple outfit into a standout moment. I bought a cowhide phone case for my new iphone 17. Just make sure which ever one you choose has some brown in it, because if the pattern is only black and white you'll look like a dalmatian.

  • Fawn (Deer) Print – An unexpected soft touch that still makes a statement.

Outerwear Edit

Make your coats count, they’re your most visible layer!

  • Max Mara – Still the gold standard for luxury coats.

  • Suede Jackets

  • Cropped Trenches

  • Draped Coats & Cape Coats

  • Faux Fur Jackets

  • Leather Blazers – Sharp, structured, essential.

  • Hybrid Scarves (built into coats)

Toteme’s scarf jacket was on Net-a-porter's list for its top selling item in 2022. "With no logo, the tell-tale signs that it was by the cult Stockholm-based brand came to be the blanket-stitched trims, oversized pockets and chunky tasseled scarf. It is shorthand for Scandi chic, while still being deeply practical – textbook Toteme."

Shoe Game

Fall shoes are all about texture and personality.

  • Suede Boots – Chocolate brown, plum, burgundy… can’t decide? You need them all.

  • Retro Sneakers – Especially suede. The Adidas SL 72 is still hot, and they just re-released the maroon pair.

  • Heels + Colored Tights – A bold and fun way to brighten up colder days.

  • Satin Shoes & Exotic Textures

  • Boat Shoes

  • Mary Jane Ballet Flats

  • Hybrid Sneakers – Elevated comfort.

  • Ballet Sneakers – Trendy but not ideal for adults. aka the "sneakerina"

Target and Zara both have their versions of the brown suede sneaker. But I'm trying to decide between the Steve Madden and the Larroudé. But if money were no object I would get the Prada one. The Coach one is pretty too with the matching laces, looks so quiet luxury.

Jewelry & Accessories

Neglecting your accessories in fall

Loud luxury is in, stack it up! Accessories this season are big in every sense of the word. Don’t underestimate the power of the details. Sometimes, it’s the smallest part of your outfit, a belt, a scarf, sunglasses, or a pair of statement earrings, that makes the biggest impact.  They can take the most basic outfit and make it interesting and chic and exciting, they can make or break a look. Oh, and get the fancy sunglasses. Trust me.  Resin bracelet stacking is a vibe, think thick bangles, mismatched colors, playful shapes. Layer them on both wrists and over sweaters. And don’t shy away from chunky cuffs, they add instant structure and strength to flowy fall silhouettes.

  • Chunky Beaded Necklaces – DIY or designer. I love Lizzie Fortunato!

  • Resin Bangles & Chunky Bracelets – Layer them over sweaters. onetwo, and three

  • Fish Necklaces – Yep, it’s a thing. From fishbowls to skeletons.

  • Brooches – Loewe has some fun ones.

  • Oversized Aviator Sunglasses – Dramatic and cool, retro and bold. Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses were super popular this year! They have bold sculptural shapes

  • Slouchy Oversized Bags & Fringe Bags

  • The Structural Hat

I made my own this summer because stores are overpricing them!  As we transition from the bright beads of summer, now’s the perfect time to lean into the layered, textural beauty of fall. Think rich, earthy tones for your beaded necklace, think tiger eye, deep chocolate, soft grey, dreamy amber, warm ecru, and every shade of cinnamon in between. These colors don't just look cozy, they feel like fall.

Fish Necklaces

This summer sardines on clothes was popular in Europe. Now I'm seeing fish on necklaces everywhere!

Oversized aviator sunglasses are on trend and make such a  statement! I got this pair. Quay also sells a beautiful pair. Free People has another version.

Broaches are popular. I used to never be a fan of them but I like this one from Loewe.

Slouchy oversized bags - Coach is back with the perfect suede version! This is the brooklyn bag but the tabby bag is still popular.

Fall Nail Trends

Your nails can say just as much as your outfit. What’s in:

  • Nude Pinky Browns – Try OPI’s Barefoot in Barcelona and Zoya’s Marcia.

  • Velvet Nails

  • Cat Eye Brown Nails

  • Lavender Milk Nails

  • Playful Prints – Cow print, tortoise, and more.

  • Oxblood Red – A seasonal classic.

I'm wearing nude pinky browns and warm roses in September, these are my two favorite colors:

Essie's new fall collection is called Boho rodeo collection and I'm loving all the colors!

Designers to Know (and Avoid)

The Lyst Index is a quarterly ranking of fashion’s hottest brands and products compiled by Lyst, the world's biggest and most intelligent fashion shopping platform. Q2-25

Net-a-Porter wrote an article on the most popular luxury items bought on their website for every single year since 2000. I found it fun to look at! I was surprised Loewe’s ‘Puzzle’ bag was the it bag for 2025.
I have a Prada Reissue bag in purple.  From the list I've bought the Bottega Veneta’s ‘Cassette’ bag in green (I have the chain version and it was uncomfortable to wear), I still use my Loewe’s raffia tote can't believe it came out in 2019, Self-Portrait’s ‘Azaelea’ midi dress (never did wear it), Balmain’s double-breasted piqué blazer (had a dupe),  Valantino Garavani’s neon ‘Rockstudʼ pumps (I'm sad they are not on trend anymore), and Diane von Furstenberg’s wrap dress I bought at the beginning of my working career in orange when it was deeply discounted.

Prada, Chloé, and Fendi have all celebrated the 20th anniversaries of their signature bags. But it makes me wonder why keep reissuing what’s already been done? When brands rely too heavily on revivals, it starts to feel like the creativity takes a back seat. The excitement fades, and what was once iconic begins to feel tired. Add to that the steep rise in handbag prices since the pandemic, and it’s fair to ask: where’s the real innovation we’re paying for?

🔥 On the Rise

  • Miu Miu – Trendsetter, especially with their NB sneaker collab. They have been one of the hottest brands over the last two years and have the number one slot on this list. Whowhatwear   ranked the top 5 bags to buy from Miu Miu. I've seen dupes for their famous bowling bag at Target and H&M because I bought both of them!

  • ALAÏA – Clean lines, beautiful craftsmanship. #12 on the list. Remember their studded ballet flats in 2023?

  • The Row – Minimalist perfection. #6 on the list

  • Chloe – Western influence is back, maybe inspired by Cowboy Carter?

  • Hermès – Always in.

  • Loewe – Exaggerated sunglasses and playful luxury. Loewe released a “Year of the Snake” collection featuring designs inspired by snakes like this ring with the jade stone. This ring was so popular I didn't understand where the snake was, its a motif abstraction so the decorative aspects dominate over figurative shape. #2 on the list.

  • YSL – Loving their moss green bags this fall. #3 on the list

  • Schiaparelli – Art-meets-fashion at its finest.

  • Van Cleef – Still dominating statement jewelry.

  • Pucci - "Pucci girl summer" was a popular trend this year with its gorgeous Italian beachwear. Pucci prints are synonymous with the dolce vita lifestyle.  My mom got this dress. I bought a purple scarf three years ago that has the same archival print. I can't find a picture of mine but this is the style and I wear it around my head as a headband. Scarves are a great accessory for fall!

Falling Off

  • Gucci– Sales down 25% and momentum slowing.

  • Loro Piana– The brand is cooling off amid controversy of labor exploitation.

  • Off White – Hasn’t found its footing since Virgil Abloh’s passing.

  • Balmain – Facing multiple controversies and losing relevance.

Marie Claire wrote an article titled Bella Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, and Charli XCX Agree: This Little Saint Laurent Bag Is Already a Status Item and explains how the new YSL Icarino bag is the new "it" bag. It's quilted in nappa lambskin, smaller in size, and of course I love the moss color above!

Final Thoughts

Fall fashion is a fly bitch sport. It’s where creativity meets confidence; where layering isn’t just practical, it’s personal. This is the season to be bold, intentional, and completely unapologetic about your style. Whether you're drawn to sharp masculine tailoring, soft romantic silhouettes, or statement-making accessories, there’s no wrong way to show up.

And let’s get a few things straight: suede sneakers > canvas, brown is officially the new black, and if you’re already rocking chartreuse? You’re ahead of the curve. Pair it all with your signature fall fragrance. and you're set.

More than anything, this season is about play. Experiment with layers, textures, and patterns.  Because at the end of the day, fashion isn’t about trends, it’s about how it makes you feel.

The goal? To step out feeling like a million bucks. Every damn time.
