Come fall/winter my vibe is all about a dark-red lipstick and my nails get inspiration from the changing colors of leaves. Fall nail colors are warm, earthy hues inspired by nature, including shades like cinnamon-toned red, black cherry, and deep burgundy. This fall the colors trending for nails will be burgundy, burnt orange, matcha green chocolate chrome, and tortoise. I know dark red nails aren't groundbreaking for fall but I am so obsessed; especially a dark short nail. Think a deep sultry, spiced burgundy. I'm looking at shades of oxblood (intense and opulent blackish-red), cherry mocha (dark chocolatey red), merlot (dark red base with brown undertones) or cherry cola (plum undertones). Burgundy stands out as the season's key shade, blending the richness of red wine and dark plum, creating a bold, yet elegant vibe.
Oxblood is an intense and rich color that is the perfect deep color for fall. If you're excited about fall manicures in dark shades of red, here are some colors to consider for a sophisticated aesthetic. For my tan skin color I like a dark vampy red, but never that dark that it looks black, like OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.

Manolo Blahnik
Here's my collection of dark reds.
Back row: Essie Angora Cardi and Bold & Boulder; OPI Como Se Llama?, Malaga Wine, We The Female
Front row: Essie Berry Naughty, OPI Complimentary Wine, CND Oxblood, DND Cherry Mocha
CND Oxblood - comes in both gel or regular version and requires 3 coats to get solid coverage.
DND Cherry Mocha- comes in both gel or regular version. It's difficult to apply and initially comes off quite patchy so I had to do 3 coats. The picture looks lighter and more red than on my fingers so I wonder if you need to get success with less coats to get this color?
I wore both colors at the same time, I painted my left hand one color and my right hand the other color. Comparison: CND Oxblood is a juicy dark red wine (my favorite) while DND Cherry Mocha is darker and has brown undertones. Neither brand describes the colors like OPI does.
Essie Bed Rock & Roll
Described as a deep, red-toned brown nude.
Essie - Berry Naughty
Described as a deep berry red. It is about the same darkness as Essie Bordeaux, but it does not have the same brown undertones as Bordeaux. This needs three coats to not be streaky as its hard to apply.
Essie - Bordeaux
Described as a deep red wine but leans a bit brown. The formula is very jelly so hard to apply without streaks, you'll need 3 coats.
Essie - Bold & Bolder
Described as a deep, burgundy with brown undertones, here on my hand.
OPI Complimentary Wine
Described as a velvet burgundy. It's almost similar to bold and boulder but complimentary wine has a red tint to it while B&B is firmly brown. It's hard to see just looking at the bottles, but I had one color on my toes and one on my hands and then could really see the difference.
OPI - Como Se Llama
Described as a burgundy fall red that is more red than brown. Comes in both gel and regular polish.
OPI - We the FemaleDescribed as garnet red and was part of their Washington, DC collection.
OPI - Got the Blues for Red
Described as a blue red and comes in polish and a press-on nail.
OPI - Malaga Wine
A red wine described as a wine red and comes in polish and a press-on nail. I'm wearing the press-on nails in this photo.
I've worn all three colors at the same time between my hands and feet and here's how I would describe them. Comparison: Malaga Wine is a juicy dark red wine (my favorite), We The Female is a berry burgundy, Como Se Llama has more brown in it and the finish is dull.
Olive & June - Obsessed
A dark ruby that comes in polish and a press-on nail.
Londontown Lakur - Elderberry
described as a blackened purple
Dior - Nuit
Glamnetic Press-on Nails in Ruby Slipper
This is my favorite press-on nail brand because the short almond shape is so flattering on my hands! It's not too long to type on a keyboard.
If you haven't tried out tortoise nails you have to try it! Here's my nails last year and this year I'm going to get this again but this time with some blue or gold foil accents on it.
My hand in glazed espresso.
