Hello Sunshine, Yellow Dress

Yellow has always been one of my favorite colors to wear. I’m going to Miami next month and was on the hunt for the perfect yellow dress!  I mean Miami sunshine calls for yellow right? It's as if summer were a dress, it would be bright and cheery. I will be making the case for yellow with this post and show you some great dresses for spring and summer. The dresses on the right are embracing the Off-Shoulder trend I talked about on here before. You have your choice of light butter yellow, canary yellow, lemon or darker marigold. I personally like the softer butter yellow which tends to be hard to find.  Included in this list is the dress you see me wearing, made from a pretty eyelet fabric which never goes out of style. All the dresses here you can wear a bra with, I can’t do the backless style.  I’ve also included a cute a striped yellow straw bag, perfect for the beach!

These yellow earrings will pop with any other color dress you pair it with. It’s such an unexpected color that you don’t see too much of.  Tassels are in trend this season. If you look closely at my ears, I’m wearing the 3 ball drop earrings in white. My shoes are linked in my Espadrilles post.

Have you heard of Tradesy? It's an online consignment store. Right now I have a few yellow pieces up for sale, just click on the pictures below.

Spring Dresses at the LOFT

The LOFT continues to be one of my favorite clothing stores. They keep up with the latest trends so in the past few years they have had all different styles. It's not just business casual clothes you would expect from a spin off from Ann Taylor. They've also expanded to sell workout clothes, swimsuits, sunglasses, hats, shoes, scarves, jewelry, socks, etc. I bought my first coat from them this year. They have shorts in various lengths and colors depending on your preference. You can outfit your entire wardrobe there. They get new inventory frequently and the whole store goes on sale monthly so it's very affordable. They also do vanity sizing which makes me a very happy, loyal customer! lol Hence I buy most of my clothes from the LOFT.

My only complaint with them is all of their white shirts are sheer, every year. Don't know who is buying them? I don't want to wear a cami underneath a t-shirt.  For Spring, the LOFT is featuring marigold yellow, cold shoulders, and floral prints. I've been scared to get into florals since I think it can be hit or miss and tire of easily. As a blonde I love wearing yellow, but not the shade marigold which seems to be a favorite of the LOFT every year.  Linked below are some of their standout dresses, you might something nice to wear to your Easter celebrations.

Spring Trend:Off-Shoulder Tops

The last time I wore an off the shoulder top was middle school, but the trend is back! I think they look flattering on all body shapes because everyone's shoulder look good right? Of course in the summer time you will have to remember to put sunblock on your shoulders. I bought this pretty pink embroidered top from Nordstrom and my mom saw and said she wanted it too! I said we can't have the same shirt and she said "it's not like we will be wearing it at the same time!" lol  As a compromise I bought her a very similar top from Target in pink. At least the shades of pink are slightly different but she says she sees the "target difference" in quality.  Both tops are linked below and my earrings are in my Target post.

I had to buy a strapless bra because I lost mine a couple years ago in a closet purge and never needed to replace it. I was skeptical about embracing the off shoulder trend and had so many questions. Would be inconvenient to carry a purse on my shoulder? Would I keep adjusting the top all day? Can a busty gal wear one? I found the only problem was wearing a seat belt put line marks on my skin - that's ok. I'm trying to hold back on not buying too many top in this style. I highly recommend you dip your shoulders into this trend as it's been in trend a few years now so I get your shoulders out there!

Playing Big as a Woman

Tara Mohr is on a mission to help women speak up and influence the world with their voice. Mohr is a personal coach who helps many women step up in life to find their calling. It’s best described as a personal development book for women in the workplace, but I don’t mean creating large business plans. This useful book is life-changing and really resonated with me! My copy of the book is filled with post-it flags of key parts that I want to refer back to. The message of this book will challenge you to think differently. Tara offers reasons women may choose to hold ourselves back, which is why so many of us are not playing big. The book is all about how to thrive as a woman and some specific skills and mindsets to create a fulfilling life. I've found many of the concepts to be helpful as it is encouraging to trust and believe in yourselves. The tangible advice and insights I most appreciated were the communication tips and how to unhook from praise and criticism. Let’s talk about some of her practical advice.

Target Spring Styles

Wow Target is really stepping up their style imitating all the big brands and selling the latest trends. On April 9th the Victoria Beckham collection will be released at Target. The lookbook is already up on their site and she offers children's clothes, women's and plus sizes in bold colors. Course I don't expect to get any of it, I'm sure it will sell out the first hour.

One of the big trends for spring is the cold shoulder this year. Target has quite a few fashionable pieces sporting this trend. Straw beach bags are also on trend now. Target has it for just $20 compared to these expensive options: Woven Tote with Pom Charms and Woven Tote with Tassel. In my previous post I talked about espadrilles shoes and showed some pricey options, Target has a few styles at a much cheaper price point. Steve Madden's blush ECNTRCQT sneaker retails for $70 and I got the identical pink shoe from Target for $25! Aren't they cute?

The Sam Edelman Gigi sandal  retails for $60 and at Target an identical sandal is only $12! Talk about a steal! Baublebar released their own Target collection with earrings that look similar to their statement earrings that got for $40.The SUGARFIX by BaubleBar earrings cost $13. I picked up some jewelry, a couple dresses, and the pink sneakers of course!
The other thing I picked up at Target were these round European paper towels. I've noticed at work that people can't tear off a paper towel without touching one on the roll, this round stack solves that problem. I also love the Oh Joy! collection at Target for its whimsical home decor. I finally tried out the Honest Company's Organic Healing Balm Soothing & Moisturizing Ointment which has been a life saver for my dry hands.
