Watch out New York, the ghostbusters are back! I've seen all five Ghostbusters movies so here’s my review on the new one: Frozen Empire. It has a new squad of Ghostbusters who were introduced in the last film Ghostbusters Afterlife (see my review). The premise of the movie is that they are protecting New York City from turning into the Ice Age. The new ghosts are very cool and the visuals and special effects are mind-blowing. This movie also brings back all the original Ghostbusters! Having the original actors return makes it super nostalgic!
As a child of the 80s Ghostbusters is the first film I really remember watching. Watching this was such a nostalgic moment from my childhood.
It was great to see the original cast have cameos: Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Annie Potts were all giving the movie charisma. Comedian Patton Oswalt, who you may remember from the tv show The King of Queens, also makes a cameo. Even a couple of the original ghosts were there which was cute. This film also introduces a friendly ghost named Melody.
This is the sequel that all Ghostbusters fans have been waiting for. I thought this movie was better than Afterlife as it’s spookier and way funnier and takes us back to their original stomping grounds of New York City at the firehouse, and to the library, and original car (not upgraded to be modern). The retro style costumes and props also add to the sense that not that much time has passed since the first Ghostbusters movies.
Ultimately the movie delivered pure enjoyment and old fans will have a good time watching it with its fair share of nostalgia. It was exactly the kind of thing the original set out to do, it was a fun goofy movie that didn't take itself too seriously. The film's special effects are nothing short of spectacular. If you love Ghostbusters, you will love this!
The movie ends with the original Ghostbusters song which everyone knows the words to and helps to conjure the original feel of the old films. Stay after the credits, the movie continues.

The next vintage film coming out with a sequel is Bad Boys! Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are coming out with their 4th edition in the series on June 7, 2024.
