If you want to avoid having to get botox, always put on the SPF to prevent sun damage. I've religiously worn sunblock daily since college. I'm not the best at wearing hats since most hats feel tight on my head so I have to be diligent about my SPF. When I was a teen I was all about the 8 SPF from Hawaiian Tropic but now I'm grownup and using 40+ SPF. When you have melatonin rich skin you need a sunscreen that is brown skin friendly and will not leave a white cast on your skin. I tried Coola sunscreen on my face but it left a white cast. I used to use Neutrogena for my body but they just recalled it, but you can get your money back from filling out a form on their website. My favorite brand is Supergoop for my face for a few years now. They are a bit pricey but they have a sale twice a year on their website or you can get it at Sephora when they have their twice a year sale. Or you can use your FSA dollars and buy supergoop from the Fsastore.
I read that skin cancer rates are going up with skin cancer being the most common cancer in the US and rates are higher for women than men under the age of 50. Dermatologists don't recommend sunscreen in the form of sticks, sprays and powders because they don't offer a good even layer of coverage. When you use a spray 25% of it is going in the air and not coating you completely. Especially at a windy beach, you think you're getting good coverage from your spray sunscreen but you're not. You're supposed to apply sunscreen 15 minutes before you go outside so your skin can absorb it. When you're outside sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours. Sunscreen is only as good as its user. Don't forget your neck and ears!
Supergoop (not related to Gwyneth Paltrow company Goop) has been in business for 15 years, based in the USA and has 40 different formulas. Their products are reef-safe, cruelty-free and made with clean ingredients. They contain no oxybenzone, octinoxate, or parabens. Their product boxes and shipping boxes are 100% recyclable. They formulate their products to be EU-compliant since Europe has much stricter requirements for ingredients. Supergoop has done a lot to increase awareness for the need for sun protection and gives back to charity including the NAACP. This post is not sponsored, but I do generally like this company a lot. These are my 6 favorite sunscreen products.

I was so excited when this came out last year! It is a hydrating formula made with hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5 and niacinamide. It also has mica which gives your skin a pearly glow. My face has a dewy finish and luminosity, I'm all about that glow!
Unsceen Sunscreen SPF 40
This has a very lightweight feel and texture. It soothes your skin nicely and blurs everything. It doesn't clog pores and is an excellent primer for makeup. It's sweat and water resistant up to 40 minutes. It comes in two sizes so I started with the smaller size since it's pricey to see if I liked it first. It's one of the few sunscreens that I actually like using as it literally goes on clear so it's a game changer for my tan skin! It's ingredients include shea butter and jojoba esters. It leaves my skin so matte and my makeup stays all day. It has a slight glowy affect. I heard that Kroger makes a dupe for it at a third of the cost but I haven't tried it.
Handscreen SPF 40My work from home desk is next to a window and I discovered that one hand is darker than the other. So I keep this at my desk so I can apply this hydrating creme first thing in the morning.
Glow Oil SPF 50
I was scared to try this because I thought it would look like I lathered myself in coconut oil but it's a dry oil! It's an ultra-hydrating sunscreen body oil that leaves skin glowing and protected, without feeling greasy. This lightweight oil is water-resistant for 80 minutes. Think of it more of a moisturizer that gives your skin a radiant finish and is immediately absorbed into your skin. So you have a little sheen, but it's not oily. It's really lightweight. Kroger makes a dupe for it but I haven't tried it.
Play Body Mousse SPF 50
Makes putting on sunscreen fun! It a lightweight, whipped sunscreen with shea butter and antioxidant-packed blue sea kale. It's also water-resistant for up to 80 minutes.
This one is made by Megababe and it's for those of us who get a melasma mustache in the summertime because of hyperpigmentation. It's made with zinc oxide as a protective skin coat. I got it in the shimmery sand color which just looks like I put highlighter on my skin.
