The Hundred Foot Journey movie

If you're a foodie and would enjoy watching a romantic movie filmed in the French countryside then this movie is for you! It's one of the best movies I've seen this year and I predict it will be nominated for an Oscar. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey and directed by the same person who did Chocolat (another movie about food filmed in the french countryside). The movie stars Helen Mirren (whom I loved in State of Play and Calendar Girls) and is based on the book of the same name which I didn't read because I heard it was way too over detailed about slaughtering animals.

The story is about an Indian family who fled Mumbai after their restaurant was burned down during political rioting, moved to London which they felt didn't have fresh produce so they ended up in a small town in France. They decide to open an Indian restaurant One Hundred Feet away from a one star Michelin restaurant in a small town where people probably don't even know what Indian cuisine is. The movie has all the typical stereotypes about snobby French people and boisterous Indians and the two restaurants end up having a culinary war.

This incredible film is filled with images of delicious food, French cooking, Indian spices, it makes me want to go out and eat Indian food! It's filmed in a picturesque countryside with French words sprinkled in. A sea urchin dish is doted as the most amazing dish ever, has anyone ever had sea urchin, I wonder what it's like? I highly recommend you see this movie!
