Fragrance Wardrobe: What Perfumes I Wear

Perfume can be the finishing touch that pulls your look together and gives you confidence just from the scent you are wearing. But finding the right scent for you is like finding your dream partner. Perfume shopping can be a bit overwhelming, trying on so many scents and none fitting right. The possibilities are endless with what type of perfume you can wear which is why I could never commit to one signature scent to wear daily. I only lightly dabbled in perfume before the pandemic, but now I really got into it!  I've been enjoying wearing perfume everyday to work from home. It's fun picking out what fragrance I'm in the mood for that day, it makes me free great regardless if I'm not leaving my home.

Blue Apron Review

This review is for the vegetarian offerings of Blue Apron and I will say it's my 2nd favorite delivery meal kit option after Purple Carrot. Blue Apron has a fancy grilled cheese sandwich once a month which is the main reason I keep the box. I don't buy bread because I wouldn't be responsible with it and eat it way too fast. lol So it's very rare I eat a grilled cheese sandwich. Blue Apron's grilled cheese are always made with some kind of white cheese and then another ingredient inside the sandwich  (like mango chutney, mushrooms or caramelized onion) and served with a side salad of lettuce (something else I never buy). Normally I would still be hungry after a grilled cheese so having that side salad is perfect.

Pear Martini

I finally was able to get my hands on a bottle of Kate Hudson's vodka King St. which is gluten-free and uses alkaline water. It's named after King Street in NYC where Kate lived briefly in her 20s. While I rarely eat pears, the flavor of a delicious crisp pear with a splash of elderflower liqueur made the perfect combo! I picked up the generic brand of elderflower liqueur instead of St. Germain and didn't taste a difference so I will be getting the cheap bottle from now on. It adds a bit of sweetness to the drink so I don't have to use simple syrup.

Makes 1 cocktail

Ingredients:
  • 3 oz pear nectar  juice
  • 3 oz vodka
  • 3 oz elderflower liquor
  • squeeze of lemon
  • dash of bitters
Directions:
Shake all the ingredients together and pour into a chilled martini glass.

Freezer Organization Hack

I have a small top freezer which used to look like a dumpster fire. I had a problem of randomly stuffing things into my freezer. And once something got shoved to the back it was never to be seen again.  I couldn't find anything and would often buy duplicates of things I already had thus taking up even more room. I freeze a lot of fruit for smoothies and cocktails. I also have a stockpile of different types of flour since I don't use them very often but it goes bad at room temperature in 3 months. Then I always keep some ravioli and tortellini in the freezer for days when I don't feel like cooking. Plus I always keep frozen broccoli and peas to add to any pasta meal. Then I signed up for a monthly smoothie delivery service and had no room in my freezer to add them.

Booze-Free Beverage Buys

A couple of my friends were doing Sober October so I decided to join in to get my weight loss goals on track. I noticed the market has an increase in alcohol free bottled spirits. I made an honest list here of what is worth trying and what was not to my liking. These booze free beverages have unique complex flavors that go beyond sparkling waters. Perfect if you're looking for something special to drink instead of wine at night. If you're participating in Dry January, save this list!
