All Time Favorite Blushes

Blush is my favorite makeup item to wear. It makes a huge difference to give you that sunkiss burnt vibes for a healthy glow.  I'm drawn to beige blush shades because it gives you a natural flush of color and won't compete with a bold eye color. I'm personally not a fan of pink blush on my tan skin because my skin doesn't "blush" when I go to the gym, it never naturally gets bright pink. When I'm tan I love to wear orange blush, that's my vacation vibe and look. Blush is my obsession,  I feel I try to keep most categories in my makeup collection as curated as I can, but something about blush I love it so much that this is the category that’s just a little out of hand. Here's a roundup of my favorite blushes. I know I don't need 13 blushes when it takes 1 year to go through one, but I will never hit pan on a blush. The Sephora sale is coming in two weeks so save this list of my recommendations of what to pick up.

I use this acrylic organizer for my powder blushes but my cream blushes don't fit in here.  I’m excited to walk you through the ones that are my favorite.

This my whole collection swatched to give you an idea of the type of shades I like to wear that give my tan skin the perfect flush.

Laura Mercier Blush - Fresco and Ginger
Fresco is my number 1 favorite blush, it's a sheer brown nude with a shimmer finish. Ginger is a pale nude in a matte finish and much brighter.  Its a very blendable formula, not streaky, gives you the right amount of color and it lays perfectly on your skin.

Kohls also has it. This is a cream to powder formula so not a full on regular cream as it has a powdery finish on the skin. It dries down so there’s no tacky finish to it so its a great formula.  The brand says it has a Blurring Mineral Complex that creates a soft-focus, diffused finish while helping to blur the look pores and imperfections. Color Smart Pearls reflect and refract light for radiant, never-flat color.  Botanical Blend, naturally derived from Moss, helps smooth skin’s appearance while providing a bouncy, blendable texture Vitamin B known to help minimize the appearance of pores. Each shade is inspired by the gorgeous tones of the sunrise & sunset

RMS Blush- Crystal Slipper & Mai Tai
Sephora stopped selling this brand but you can find it at Revolve, Bluemercury, Nordstrom and Amazon. I had originally purchased the shade Maiden's Blush as that's a super popular color but it was too dark for me. Then they recently released Crystal Slipper which can be described as a Sunkissed buff. I also have the Mai Tai shade which is a sunlit, citrusy coral that I realized is almost identical to the color I have from Haus Labs. Mai Tai is my vacation blush when I'm tan.

PAT McGRATH LABS Divine Powder Blush in Desert Orchid

Described as a petal-soft powder blush with blendable color and a unique featherlight, satin finish.  I love the rose emboss design but can’t open the package so I don’t use it much. Its a buildable formula that is pigmented with no patchiness or steaking, and is an amazing formula. The brand says the shade Desert Orchid is a bronze rose with golden pearl which I would describe as a shimmery orange that is both blush and highlighter.

Haus Labs  - Fire Opal
Not a blush but I use it as such, it's a  highlighting powder. Fire Opal is a gorgeous apricot color with tons of micro glitter sparkles. This talc free formula is made with Arnica and melts into your skin so beautifully. I use it as a blush topper on the apples of my cheeks and it gives an amazing glow. The formula doesn't add any texture to your skin.  Fire Opal is my vacation blush when I'm tan.

MAC - Sheertone Blush - Gingerly Capri bronze
A silky blush that provides sheer buildable coverage and a natural finish. This is an oldie but a goodie.

MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish - Give Me Sun! (light summer peach tan)

Not a blush, it's a baked setting powder that provides sheer coverage with a dimensional yet natural finish. I use this as a blush/bronzer as it gives the most beautiful ginger peach color, although a lot of people complain it's too orange for them. Here's a tip for you,  instead of a blush/bronzer which typically only has a handful of shades go for a face powder because there's going to be way more color variety so you're likely to find something that looks more natural on you. Face powders aren't going to be as pigmented so it's easier to get a natural diffused buildable look, especially with the mineralized touch.

Cream Blushes

Tower 28  Cream Blush - Magic Hour
A multitasking tinted balm with Aloe Vera Extract and Castor Seed Oil. Magic Hour is a bright Sun-kissed rosy nude. It's a very popular formula and I love the sleek packaging. This is a clean beauty brand and as a cream formula the expiration will be sooner than a powder product. On mine the wax bloom is off putting so I don't reach for it as much.  It's a beautifully pigmented blush that you can apply with your fingers. This blends out like a dream and the color play out is beautiful. It leaves you a shiny satin dew. I like to wear this in the spring.

Merit Blush -Terracotta
This is sheer and gives your face an oily glow, perfect for no makeup looks and something quick to put on before a zoom meeting.  When I have no makeup on I just swipe my cheeks with it but when I do have foundation on I grab a brush to dip into product because it’s the best way to apply cream products. It’s very pigmented but not a lot of color payoff. Blends really nice, great formula with a shiny finish.

Westman Atelier - Blush Stick -  Mimi (Tawny Beige)
A cream blush stick that has nice packaging with its magnetized lid and gold trim which feels high end. This is a daily pink. I apply this with a brush,  patting off the excess onto my hand first. It has great longevity, wears great on top of layers of makeup, grips onto the skin with no patchiness. The pigment is gorgeous and buildable. It’s effortless, it blends out so easy, and has high shine satin finish.

Persona - Cream Stick - Teddy (warm, apricot nude)

It's a beautiful burnt orange color but it doesn’t last long and moves around my foundation. I would only wear this on bare skin for a no makeup look.
