What to Buy at the Sephora Sale

It's the time of year when the entire store goes 20% off for VIB Members! That's if you spent a minimum of $350 at Sephora in the past year. The sale is from Nov 10 - 15. If you're a VIB member, you can use the code "20FORVIB" for 20 percent off. I wanted to help you get your cart ready now so you can place your order quickly before things sell out.  First check the sale section as that will be an additional 20% off sale prices! Sephora has a lot of holiday gift sets which are a great way to try a brand by buying a set of samples sized products. During the sale I always buy the higher priced items on my wishlist that I was hesitant to splurge on before. It was fun to look at what I had on my wishlist last year as I've bought everything except the first two items.

The Rihanna Effect!

Look who's on the cover of Vogue magazine for the third time! Rihanna also released a new song with Shakira and just celebrated her birthday in Aspen. I've noticed that my blog has had a ton of visitors lately checking out my posts on Rihanna. Just look at my top 5 blog posts on the right side bar. So I thought I should discuss her new magazine article, here are some interesting quotes from it. She's left LA and lives in New York full time now and even walks the streets.
Rihanna has had as many number-one singles (thirteen) as Michael Jackson in Billboard's Hot 100. It took Michael Jackson nearly 23 years. It's taken Rihanna seven. She's sold 50 million albums and 180 million single, and won six Grammys.
In the fashion world she has inspired a very, very loose mix of random items. Her style is oversized mens jackets which she says is the backbone of her wardrobe. She says "You will never be stylish if you don't take risks." Then the classic Rihanna combination is sweatpants and heels which she got from dance rehearsal.
Rihanna is about 5'8 tall but she's wearing four inch pointy-heeled Saint Laurent black suede booties with leather ties wrapped around her ankles. She says, "It's not about pain. It's about the commitment. I say to myself, 'I want to look like this,' and worry about the pain later."
 "If I'm wearing a top, I don't wear a bar," she says. "If I'm wearing a bra, I just wear a bra."

Favorite Magazines

Do you have a favorite magazine that you read? Mine is Allure and Oprah and I save them to take with me when I go to the hairdresser to read. I love that fact that Allure comes with a page of stickers that I can peel and use as bookmarks to flag pages in the magazine that interests me to return back to. Just from December edition of Allure magazine I got tips on wear a new shade of Essie nail polish I coincidentally just bought! Saw some eyeshadow palettes I just had to have and lotion recommendations for the winter. It's just a great learning tool for someone addicted to buying beauty products and learning new things related to them.

I just happened to have the nail polish color features so I copied their design on my nails.

I was going to subscribe to the digital version as well (which is not free even though they make you think it is until after you download it) however the reviews say it has a lot of kinks so I'm going to hold off on that fr now. I can usually get a deal for the print version for $5 for a year.

My co-worker made a joke that he was somewhere where there was nothing to read but Oprah magazine and everyone laughed. I chimed in that it was my favorite magazine because it truly is an extension of her show. I no longer watch her show because I don't have cable but I grew up watching it for years when I was an adolescent. Her magazine gives money tips, personal development, style makeovers, book recommendations and recipes. It's really all about celebrating life and being a better you.

Oprah had an 11 page article on the benefit of Shakeology and where in the world the ingredients come from.

You can read the whole article here.

Style Trend: Military Camouflage

Camo print seems to always be coming back into style. Check out this collage I complied of Rhianna  over the years. I wasn't a fan of the onesie (first pic) though. lol Did you see her hair style at the American Music Awards on Sunday? Here's the reaction to it.

I've found so many stores have camo print in their fall line right now! But I think the trend is different this year because I've noticed people are styling it more chic. I just bought myself a pair of camo leggings that I'm going to style with these red pumps!

RiRi Hearts MAC Fall Collection

Rihanna’s new MAC Cosmetics line is a 20-piece collection  including lipsticks, bronzers, brushes, eyeliners, mascara and false eyelashes packaged in rose gold. Her last collection sold out the first day! Last week when the store opened at 10am there was already a long line! I was lucky because a fellow Brooklyn blogger had to get to the store at 6am! My store was prepared and had employees walk the line to get everyone's order and had your bag ready for you by the time you got up to the register. There was actually quite a few men in line, buying up lots of lipstick, I was curious what they were going to do with all of it? Were they makeup artists or planning to re-sell it? Well after a 30 minute wait I got her cocoa eyeshadow quad that is full of golden browns because I thought it would match my coloring perfectly. There's also a red lip liner to match her riri woo lipstick, and a orange lipstick named "who's that chick" and you know how much I love orange. The collection debuted yesterday on MAC's website and sold out within the hour!

Favorite Rhianna song of the moment:

wearing MAC lipstick RiRi Woo
I'm a huge Rihanna fan and love all of her songs! Not a fan of her fashion, but appreciate the fact that she has a bad ass personality. She's the original  "Good Gal Gone Bad" getting into twitter wars with other celebrities, she's real and I like that! On top of that, I actually get told by a lot of people that I look like her. lol

So when I saw that MAC was launching four collections this year with Rihanna I was just so excited! Her makeup always looks amazing and we're the same skin tone so we can wear the same colors. I'm a neutral lipstick kind of gal and was afraid to wear red lipstick, but last year where I went to an event where I wore a red Herve Leger bandage dress and thought I needed red lipstick to match. I have to say it felt weird, and too loud for me to wear red, but slowly over the past year I've warmed up to trying red lipstick again.

MAC RiRi Woo lipstick is based on the original and beloved MAC Ruby Woo (up until now it was Rihanna's to go to red). Her name is engraved in the lipstick. It's only available for sale online but the good news is shipping is free of anything from her collection and it ships fast! When it went on sale last month the shade sold out in 3 hours and crashed MAC's website! It's also sold at her concerts. Like those people I'm sure, I just got it because it's Rihanna, I was a little skeptical since I don't wear red lipstick, but seeing the color on her I was sold and decided to give it a chance.

The color is matte so it's a bit drying so you need to put chapstick on first. I have to say after I got over the shock of the brightness of a bold unusual color for me, it wowed me with its vibrancy. With my blonde hair I feel I'm pulling a Gwen Stefani look. lol I think I'll be wearing this on my trip to Spain.
Looking forward to getting her eye shadow palate this fall!

Having been a loyal MAC user for years, this is how I store my makeup. I got the idea from watching Keeping up With the Kardasians,  Kim stores her makeup in something similar to this but bigger. As you can see only nude lipsticks and one orange.
