If you're also heading back to the office soon I wanted to share some recommendations for good office fragrances. I still want to smell good but offend as few people as possible. My requirements to fit this list are fragrances that are relatively neutral, meaning not overly sweet, spicy or strong, yet still sophisticated, classy and professional.
For work I always under spray, so 1 or 2 sprays max. I stick to scents that have a soft note and are clean, crisp, light and non-offensive. Sandalwood is a safe note for an office setting. I want fragrances that stay close to the skin and don't project strongly as I don't want to smoke anyone out. Here are some work friendly fragrances from my collection and all of these fragrances are absolutely safe and would be perfect for the office.
I recently discovered that in Canada they are not allowed to wear perfume in the office. All government buildings, schools, hospitals, libraries are Scent Free places and perfume is strictly prohibited! In Canada they have the scent policy written on walls and report people to HR for violating them, that includes scented lotions and deodorants. If you don't live in Canada, here are some office friendly, inoffensive scents that you can still enjoy and feel beautiful.
Citrus
Etat Libre D'Orange - You or Someone Like You
Etat Libre D'Orange is a relatively new French perfume house. You or Someone Like You is a unisex scent that is best worn in the spring and summer. Picture a fresh grassy summer scent, mint leaves, squeezed limes and fragrant tomato leaves.
Top notes are Mint, Grapefruit, Bergamot and Anise; middle notes are Green Notes, Cassis, Rose and Hedione; base note is White Musk.
Amber
Out of the 70 fragrances this house makes, this is their top 3rd most popular fragrance and is unisex. Best worn in spring, summer and maybe fall. It also comes in a body wash, body lotion, hair perfume, and hand cream. This is a fresh, clean, soft scent that sits close to the skin. It's powdery, musky, and strong on the sandalwood.
Top notes are Sapodilla and Ambrette (Musk Mallow); middle notes are Magnolia, Violet and Sandalwood; base notes are Ambergris and Cedar.
BDK is a new Parisian fragrance house. Gris Charnel is a unisex scent best worn in winter, fall, and maybe spring. This fragrance has a very cozy feeling to it. It smells like a spiced chai latte with figs. The sandalwood is creamy, sophisticated and elegant. My number one pick from this list.
Top notes are Cardamom, Fig and Black Tea; middle notes are iris and Bourbon Vetiver; base notes are Sandalwood and Tonka Bean.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Gentle Fluidity Gold
A unisex fragrance that is best worn in winter, fall and maybe spring. This is powdery with a bit of vanilla and spice. It's very elegant and sophisticated yet gentle. Perfect everyday scent that you'll want to keep sniffing.
Notes are Vanilla, Amber, Musk, Woodsy Notes, Juniper Berries, Nutmeg, Coriander, and Floral notes
Floral
Van Cleef & Arpels - Gardenia Petale
Van Cleef & Arpels is a luxury French jewelry company that makes the famous clover bracelet. Gardenia Petale is best worn in the spring and summer. It's a buttery white floral with a very realistic gardenia scent. It's very classy, delicate and sits close to the skin.
Notes are Gardenia, White Flowers, Jasmine, Green Notes, Lily-of-the-Valley, Citruses
Kedu is best worn in the spring and summer and maybe fall and is a beautiful, sophisticated classy scent. It's very unusual as it smells like creamy sesame and is nutty and milky but also has some fresh citrus. In short, a polished warm scent.
Top notes are Grapefruit, Neroli and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Mate, Freesia, Rose and Peony; base notes are Sesame, White Musk and Moss.
A NYC based fragrance house that also makes candles, I visited their store last time I was in NYC. Rose Atlantic is best worn in the spring and summer. The scent is incredibly fresh and it's nice to have a summer scent that isn't sunscreen or coconut. It smells like tomato leaves and dune grass, it's a juicy and a salty rose. Imagine a sea breeze flowing through a rose garden.
Top notes are Rose Petals, Lemon and Bergamot; middle notes are Rose, Salt, Lime (Linden) Blossom and Grass; base notes are Sea water, Musk and Oakmoss.
