Is Your Skincare Routine Spring Ready?

I think we've all seen that meme that says "I now have time for that 24 step skin care routine". lol  Your skincare routine should be amazing right now! You should come out this with incredible skin and experience an intense glow up! Now is also a great time to switch to natural deodorant  so you can go through the detox period at home.

Spring is a time to swap out your heavy winter moisturizers for lighter formulas, step up your SPF game and exfoliate dull skin. While you're home you have time go through your product stash and throw out old products. Sephora is having their spring sale where the whole store will be 15% for VIB members on April 21-29. Sephora just released their summer kits: Summer Sun on the FlyPower of the Petal, Hair Minis, and Travel Minis. These kits are a great way to sample Sephora's most popular and newest products.

I know that skincare is very personal so what works for me may not work for you. My skin type is normal, I drink a ton of water  and don't wear foundation, powder, or bb/cc creams so my freckles show. I like to every so often do updates on my current skincare routine on my blog.  In doing so I didn't realize I had so many Murad products  as I bought them all at separate times. I always do a lot of research on a product to read reviews before buying them. Because a product can claim anything, but not really deliver or have a good formula. Good skin means you don't need as much makeup for your daily life. I've grouped the products by purpose, not order of steps. The idea is you should have one product from each section.

Cleanse/Tone/Exfoliate
I use the Murad cleanser every morning and night and while it does a good job of removing makeup, I prefer to  use the Drunk Elephant cleanser if I wore a full face of  makeup. I use the toner immediately after I cleanser in the AM only.

Murad Prebiotic 4-in-1 Multi Cleanser
A gentle, fragrance-free cleansing gel with a list of  hydrating ingredients.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating TreatmentI'm on my second tube of this, the last one lasted me a year. Twice a week I use this in the PM as it gives you a 2-minute facial as it exfoliates, smooths and polishes to reveal a glowing, radiant complexion. It's made from lactic acid and fruit enzymes— papaya, pineapple, and pumpkin. It's bright green and smells like a Christmas tree!

Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser

This fragrance free cleansing balm completely melts makeup off your face and is gentle enough to be used on your eyes as well. It's made up of an oil blend including safflower and marula oils. My skin feels hydrated afterwards.

Youth to the People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner

This fragrance-free chemical exfoliant contains an 11% concentration of alpha hydroxy acids: specifically lactic and glycolic which restore your skin’s radiance and help to reduce the look of fine lines.

Moisturizer/Oil
I don't have dry skin so I don't like to use a heavy moisturizer and really only use regular moisturizers in the winter time. These are all very light formulations, if you have dry skin you'll need to add your regular moisturizer on top of these.
Dr. Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster
A lightweight, non-greasy moisturizing serum with a mix of antioxidants that helps with skin brightness. It can be layered underneath your moisturizer. I put this on every morning after my toner.

Glossier Futuredew
This unique formula of an oil/serum hybrid that gives your skin a dewy glow. It's made of a 4-oil blend of  Jojoba, Grape Seed, Evening Primrose, and Rosehip Oil. Plus Squalane which is a light weight and fast absorbing oil that comes plants usually olive or sugarcane. And Mica, a light reflecting mineral.

Becca Skin Love Glow Elixir
A lightweight, primer serum that makes your skin glow. It's ingredients include honey, moisturers and  a blend of  antioxidant that help brighten, hydrate, and nourish skin to give you a natural glow. I wear this under makeup.

Treatment
At the start of spring you want to get into an exfoliation routine to smooth your skin's texture, unclog pores, remove dead skin cells to reveal vibrant glowy skin. Manual exfoliation is too harsh on skin so you should toss your walnut scrubs.  These products I use in the PM.
A hydroquinone and Glycolic Acid serum that I put on the skin above my lips in the PM to prevent melasma, otherwise known as a skin mustache which the sun will bring on.

Murad Night Fix Enzyme Treatment
An overnight treatment with anti-aging peptides, enzymes and vitamin B to help to improve skin tone and soften fine lines. This meant to be used over your moisturizer. Your skin looks dewy in the morning.

M-61 PowerGlow Peel
1-minute, 1-step exfoliating glow peel with glycolic, vitamin K & chamomile.  The box of  pre-soaked towelettes resurfaces, clarifies and helps to firm the skin for a radiant, renewed glow. I use it 2 or 3 times a week before bed.

Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream
Retinol is the purest form of Vitamin A. Retinol stimulates collagen production, which helps to plump up and reduce fine lines and helps with cell turnover and hyperpigmentation. Be prepared to experience some skin sensitivity and minor peeling. This vegan retinol is safe to using during the day. I find it stronger than prescription retinols I have used. I use this every other night.

Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Facial
This is a  peel, exfoliator and a mask. It has glycolic, lactic, malic and tartaric acids to renew and brighten skin. Plus squalane and hyaluronic acid plump and hydrate your skin.

Tools
Rose Quartz Gua Sha
Gua sha is a process in which a polished stone is scraped across the skin. This traditional Chinese technique, similar to a jade roller, is used for a facial massage which helps to relieve tension from the muscles in the face, boost blood circulation, encourage lymphatic drainage which reduces bloat and makes your face look temporarily slimmer, breaks up fascia and helps with fine lines. To use first put some facial oil on your face so that it can glide easily.

Supplements

The experts now are recommending that we all take Vitamin C to boost our Immune System so I really like these vegan gummy vitamins from Hum Nutrition

Sunscreen

SUPERGOOP Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40
This sunscreen has a pearlescent finish to gives your skin a luminous appearance. This might be too shiny for some people but I love it! You can use it as a makeup primer or wear alone. The fragrance-free formula include niacinamide and glycerin which helps your skin stay hydrated. Right now a sample size of this product is in almost all the Sephora Favorites kits.

Murad Perfecting Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA++
A moisturizer and SPF in one.

Extras

Versed Silk Slip Conditioning lip Oil
On my lips, I’m obsessed with this vegan lip oil that I use at night. It's a mix of jojoba, camellia, sesame and sunflower seed oils, plus vitamin E. It was very important to me to find a lip product that didn't have Petroleum and this fit the bill. Some of the reviews say it's too sticky but I didn't find that to be the case.

Elemis peptide4 eye recovery cream
This eye cream is made with peptides to help to improve the appearance of under eye dark circles, reduce puffiness under eyes and targets fine lines. Replenishes lost moisture with Star Arvensis Oil.
